KM SHOWCASE/4K FAIR HIGHLIGHTS OPPORTUNITIES FOR LEARNERS OF ALL AGES!!! About 150 families signed up to attend the KM Showcase and 4K Fair. The 4K-12 event brought families together from throughout the region for an evening centered on exploration, connection, and opportunity. With attendance surpassing previous years, the event provided a welcoming environment for those considering educational options for their children. Guests met directly with teachers, administrators, and students while touring our high school and learning about academic programs, extracurricular activities, and support services. One family described the experience as “So beyond what we expected when we signed up. We were able to register both of our children and sign them up for a bunch of clubs and sports teams. The tour was amazing.… We are blown away.” Others discovered options they hadn’t previously considered. A homeschool parent shared, “I did not realize our daughter could be taking advantage of partial attendance or even virtual enrollment. This opens up so many options for us as a family and also for her socially.” For families just beginning their school journey, the event offered reassurance and excitement. One 4K parent said they were “grateful for the child care area and enjoyed meeting teachers and learning about the different 4K programs.” They enrolled in our Forest 4K program and left feeling confident about the year ahead knowing that wrap care and transportation would be available. Hands-on STEM displays, vibrant arts programs, and conversations with students helped bring learning to life. One parent whose son had just applied to KM Global was excited to learn he can schedule courses in all of our high schools. Their son “is very interested in business and marketing, but is also creative and was interested in some of the offerings through Perform. That flexibility will allow him to pursue both and makes our choice much easier." As the evening concluded, families left not only with information, but with a sense of belonging. We wish to extend a special thank you to Culver’s for providing boxed meals; our early childhood team for facilitating the child care area; and to the many staff, students, and community members whose dedication made the showcase such a meaningful success.

KM PERFORM CENTERSTAGE!!! Classroom Centerstage, is a brand new program in KM Perform where students produce a live music series recorded right in their classroom! The space is set up like a “Tiny Desk” concert with a 4 camera production crew, live audience, host, and performer. Mike Callies developed the concept as way to partner with local artists and provide additional opportunities for his students to learn valuable production skills. He was able to secure a grant from the Kettle Moraine Education Foundation (KMEF) for much of the equipment. Scott Curty donated additional items, as well as his production talents, to help bring this vision to life. KM alumni Garrett Waite, was the first guest, sharing a short interview and live performance with film students who will then produce a video to be released next week.

2026 JERRY AWARD NOMINATIONS!!! The Wizard of Oz has received the following nominations: Outstanding Musical, Outstanding Ensemble, Outstanding and Orchestra, Outstanding Overall Design. Outstanding Lead Performance: Josephine Byrne - Dorothy Gale, William Kastner - Scarecrow/Hunk, Joseph Anderson - Cowardly Lion/Zeke, and Johnathan Doome - Tin Man/Hickory. Outstanding Supporting Performance: Emma Hipp - Aunt Em/Glinda, Chip - Toto, and Gabriella Schmitt - Almira Gulch/Wicked Witch of the West. Spirit Awards: Emma Hipp and Isabella Kreblin. Outstanding Overall Design: Scenic Designer - Matthew Dunlap, Lighting Designer - Mykhailo Nahirniak, Costume Designer - Abigail Kean and Lynne Miner, Sound Design - Greg Klas, Outstanding Costume Design - Abigail Kean and Lynne Miner, and Outstanding Sound Design - Greg Klas. Some specific feedback regarding the ensemble: "The ensemble was committed and focused. The young Munchkins were a highlight, demonstrating vocal strength, discipline, and full character engagement." "This ensemble understood exactly what it means to work as a unified group." "Whether on stage or off, their performances formed the backbone of this show. Even the beautiful choral moments in the Overture reinforced how essential the ensemble is within The Wizard of Oz. And of course, no Oz production is complete without an adorable parade of Munchkins. Some ensemble highlights included the entire Munchkin-land sequence (special kudos to all soloists), the wonderfully comedic Crows in “If I Only Had a Brain,” the Trees in “If I Only Had a Heart,” and the high energy in both “The Merry Old Land of Oz” and “The Jitterbug.” Overall, the ensemble was engaging, versatile, and delightful to watch. Excellent work." One of our Jerry Reviewer's summed up the production like this: The Wizard of Oz is not an easy undertaking. The audience arrives with built in expectations, and the show demands an enormous number of fantastical elements to bring the world to life. It is clear that a tremendous amount of brains, heart, and courage went into every aspect of this production. I was consistently impressed by the cast’s energy, precision, and stamina. The Kettle Moraine High School production created a magical and whimsical journey down the yellow brick road. Terrific work and congratulations to all."

FOREST SCHOOL DAY!!! Some of our Perform students visited Hartland South today for Forest School Day, a full day of outdoor learning for their students. Our students led a short poetry lesson and guided younger writers as they created poems about what autumn means to them. It was such a joy to spend time with these students on a beautifully crisp fall day. Special thanks to Courtney Marschalek, their Outdoor Education Specialist, for inviting us to be part of such a meaningful experience.
