THREE KMHS STUDENTS RECEIVE AWARDS FROM OPTIMIST CLUB OF LAKE COUNTRY!!!! Erin Browning, junior in KM Perform took secod place in the Optimist International Essay Contest for the local club level. She submitted an essay on the topic "Optimism: How It Connects Us” and competed against 78 other high school students from the Lake Country area. Erin received a monetary award to go towards her post secondary education. Emma Manion, sophomore in HS^2 took first place and Sydney Loehrl, junior in KMHS took second place for the local club level in the Optimist International Oratorical Contest in Speech where they presented on the topic “How to Change the World with Optimism”. Both students won a monetary award to go towards their post secondary education.
SHOUT OUT TO CLUE CAST AND CREW!!! I cannot say enough about the quality of this show! If you saw it, you are probably still talking about it. In fact, I did not have a clue how a) the butler remembered all of those lines b) they transitioned the set in and out of rooms so smoothly c) the bodies remained so lifeless and limp as they were dragged and dropped or d) how perfectly every cast blended into their characters. KM SHOWCASE DRAWS LARGE CROWD!! We were thrilled when more than 100 families took time to attend the KM Showcase this year. We will continue to learn from the experience and expand this annual event! Thank you to the presenters for providing over 50 exhibits from all of our KM schools, clubs, teams, and activities. The demonstrations from computer science, Makerspace, robotics, and digital design were really engaging, and the art gallery of student work was impressive. We also want to thank our community partners: Avid Jewelry, Chick-fil-A, Culver's, Dockhounds, Mama Ds, MDs, and Pizza Guy for the generous contributions to our gift bags and prize drawing. Winners were drawn and notified yesterday and we have some very happy recipients!

KM EXPLORE DELIVERS VALENTINES TO KMHS STUDENTS!!!! Explore students made over 1200 Valentines and delivered them to every student, and a lot of staff members, at the high school today. It was really cute watching them get caught up in the act of giving as they shared their creations. The KMHS students appreciated the kind gesture and enjoyed the candy treats. KM PERFORM STUDENT IS RUNNER UP IN NEW YORK TIMES STUDENT REVIEW CONTEST!!!! The New York Time's Ninth Annual Student Review Contest invited students age 13-19 to try their hand at being a magazine critic, by submitting reviews on things that were popular in 2023. They received over 3,200 submissions from students all over the world. Kaylin Spindler of KM Perform wrote and submitted a review entitled “Plot Twist: Meg’s a Villain! How Lydia the Bard Nailed This Disney Song Rewrite.” Her fantastic original review earned her runner up status in a contest with only nine winners!

FEBRUARY 15TH IS NATIONAL SRO DAY!!!! Our student resource officers, Officer Sonenberg and Officer Catania, are a huge part of our KM Family. They are also an instrumental force in maintaining school safety, culture and structure. Both have been involved in important initiatives to protect students from online predators, bullying, and harmful substances. We are so grateful for their presence in our schools! KMHS has an amazing showing this year with 3 Gold Keys, 2 Silver Keys and 5 Honorable Mentions. The Gold and Silver Key winners will have their artwork displayed at the Milwaukee Art Museum. The Gold Keys will continue on to the national competition in NYC. This is a very competitive art competition and a huge honor for all the artists. The Scholastic Art Awards: Wisconsin Exhibition will be on-view from February 24 through April 7, 2024, in Schroeder Galleria at the Milwaukee Art Museum. We hope you can find time to go down to the museum and see the show, it truly is an impressive show of Wisconsin student's work. Gold Keys: Zuma Effland, Emily Gerber, Ashtyn Witt. HOST A FOREIGN EXCHANGE STUDENT!!! We currently have one student who is looking to stay with an area family as part of this wonderful cultural exchange. Paola, 17, from France, is coming to KMHS in the fall and needs a host family. She loves skiing, and tennis and is good with pets. She will pay all expenses, and has medical insurance. Paola wants to know our culture and will participate in school and family activities. She speaks English and wants to practice by living among Americans.
